My Approach
I take an integrative and liberation-based approach to therapy by focusing on understanding my clients’ identities, values, and strengths, as well as cultural and sociopolitical contexts. I firmly believe it is important to create a space that fosters empathy, vulnerability, safety, and authenticity. Each client I work with is a unique and wonderfully complex being and, as such, I pay close attention to the ways each client relates to me and to their own unique intersecting combination of identities. I work collaboratively with each client to create a “shared definition” of their concerns, which includes how their concerns developed over time, how the concerns show up now, and creating goals and pathways towards change and liberation. I then choose evidence-based techniques that best fit the client given their identities, culture, and shared definition of the problem. It is my hope that I can help clients identify how their past has shaped them, and empower them to create a future that works better for them.

My Experience
I am a licensed psychologist in the state of Missouri. I am experienced in trauma-focused therapy (e.g., Cognitive Processing Therapy), Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, substance use, as well as LGBTQIA+ affirming care. I also provide comprehensive psychological testing for learning disabilities (math, reading, writing, etc.), ADHD, and personality tests for those 16 years of age and older. As a generalist practitioner, I have worked with clients with a variety of concerns. My experience is often most helpful to those:

  • needing learning disability, ADHD, and personality evaluations

  • feeling disconnected with emotions or feel their emotions are “out of control”

  • coping with traumatic experiences

  • hoping to liberate themselves from oppressive messages

  • questioning, exploring, or navigating sexual and gender identity

  • seeking ways to have more love for themselves and their identities

The road we travel towards living as our truest self is by no means smooth. Often, we have learned messages that get in the way of living authentically, whether it be messages from society, family, peers, strangers, or even ourselves. We may feel lost and uncertain of finding a way forward. We will collaboratively work together to find ways that you can feel empowered to break free and feel liberated from these messages to live openly and authentically.
